WORCESTERSHIRE have fallen to a 251-run defeat against Sussex on the final day of their LV= County Championship Division One relegation battle.
The New Road side were set a target of 421 to win by the visitors after they declared over night on 267-4.
However, despite a 61 from captain Daryl Mitchell, Worcestershire were bowled out just before the tea break by Sussex for 169.
The County now face a difficult trip to title-chasing Durham on Monday to try and avoid the drop to Division Two.
However, with fellow strugglers Hampshire losing in dramatic fashion at Lancashire, Worcestershire will require eight points from their trip to Durham to secure survival, while the Rose Bowl side head for title-chasing Warwickshire needing a victory to stand any hope of staying in Division One.
