PATIENTS have nominated a doctors' surgery for our Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards.

Upton Surgery, in Tunnel Hill, has been picked out by many people as deserving recognition in the 2021 awards run by the Malvern Gazette and its sister titles.

The surgery has received a number of nominations for the GP Practice of the Year award.

Patient Pat Griffiths said: “We heard of many surgeries not seeing patients. This never happened with Upton. It was always possible to speak to a doctor and if necessary, visit.

"They arranged for all prescriptions to be delivered during lockdown one, and all staff have been very helpful and supportive.”

Fellow patient Sheila Glazzard added: “Excellent service from all staff during lockdown. They have worked tirelessly to ensure all patients are still cared for.”

Ben Kent, practise manager of the surgery, said: “Obviously we’re absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for the Health and Social Care Awards.

"It’s been an incredibly tough and demanding year for the team, and all our colleagues across the NHS, so feedback like this from our patients really does mean a huge amount to us.

"Just to be nominated I know will make the staff feel appreciated. I’d also like to thank our patients for their continued support and amazing feedback. I was lucky enough to get to chat to a few of them at the clinic - really hit home to me the level of appreciation out there for what the whole NHS is doing.”

The 12 Health and Social Care Awards categories are: The Health Care Team Award, The Care Hero Award, The Care Home Worker Award, The Care Trainer Award, The Health Care Employer Award, Domiciliary Care Worker Award, The Good Nurse Award, Adolescent and Child Health Care Award, The Dementia Carer Award, The Palliative/ End of Life Care Award, The Mental Health Award, and the GP Practice of the Year Award.
