Jackie Edwards worked “tirelessly” throughout the pandemic as a Promoting Independence Assistant for the Reablement Service run by Worcestershire County Council.

She died in February this year at the age of 62 after contracting Covid-19 and manager Deborah Bell feels she should be recognised for her devotion to care work.

Deborah said: “Jackie was immensely proud of her role as a Promoting Independence Assistant and protected both herself and the people she cared for, she did this with the upmost compassion and dignity. Jackie supported people being discharged from the acute hospitals and made sure the support they received was delivered in a way that we would want our family members looked after.

“Jackie has left behind a legacy to all that knew her, of her amazing attitude and the devoted passion she had as a domiciliary care worker.”

A memorial bench in honor of her services has been placed at the Countryside Centre in Worcester.

Nora Chiutare

Nora Chiutare Norah Chiutare is the manager of Social care Academy, a domiciliary care provider providing support to people in their own homes.

Norah has been described as a hard worker who has gone above and beyond what was expected of her throughout the pandemic.

Samantha Scarpellini, who nominated her for the award, said: “Norah ensured everyone had the care they needed and developed a strategy and contingency plan to prevent people going without care when her staffing levels were low due to the pandemic.

“Norah will communicate with adult social care and raise valid concerns, but also will try and sort concerns out herself where she can, such as liaising with GP’s and Nurses.

“Norah is resilient and tough as well as caring and kind and she deserves to be awarded the domiciliary care hero award.”
