BACK on the beat, or otherwise doing the rounds once again, is the latest version of the ever popular 'whodunit', An Inspector Calls, and one of its stop-offs will be here in Worcestershire.

The UK and Ireland Tour of Stephen Daldry’s seminal production of JB Priestley’s classic thriller will be at Malvern’s Festival Theatre next month.

From the PW Productions stable it will be on stage locally from November 5 to 9.

Liam Brennan will play ‘Inspector Goole’, and also in the cast will be Christine Kavanagh, Jeff Harmer, Alisdair Buchan and Chloe Orrock.

Since 1992, Daldry’s production of An Inspector Calls has won a total of 19 major awards including four Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards, and it has played to more than four million theatregoers worldwide Al of which makes it the most internationally-lauded production in the National Theatre’s history.

Written at the end of the Second World War and set before the First, the story is a compelling and haunting thriller which begins when the mysterious Inspector Goole calls unexpectedly on the prosperous Birling family home, shattering their peaceful family dinner party with his investigations into the death of a young woman.
