WHAT could be better than spending an afternoon wading through gigantic swishy swashy grass, a splishy splashy river, and thick oozy, squelchy mud?
Not much as it turns out.
We recently joined an intrepid family of adventurers and their musical dog (of course) on a quest to find a bear (what else!).
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, at Birmingham Town Hall, was full of catchy songs, interactive scenes, plenty of adventure - and a few big surprises along the way.
Directed by Sally Cookson set to Benji Bower’s versatile lively score, it faithfully recreates the much-loved and extremely popular picture book.
The book, by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, was released in 1989.
It follows a family's excitement as they wade through grass, splash through a river and squelch through mud in search of a bear.
The show is the perfect treat for families with children aged from three upwards.
It's not too long or drawn out, which can be a danger with these types of family shows, but just right.
There is also plenty of audience interaction - great for little ones.
There is not much more to say than this is one of the best family shows this reviewer has ever seen.

What is there to be scared of? Not much. Apart from maybe the bear's roar which could possibly frighten smaller ones.
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt was a joy from beginning to end.
