FRESH from career-defining sets at Leeds and Reading Festival in the NME/Radio 1 tents The Maccabees will be coming to Birmingham.

As part of their biggest UK headline tour yet the band will be playing on October 1 at Birmingham Academy.

The band, based in South London by-way-of-Brighton, have also just released their second album Wall of Arms, winning praise across the board from fans and critics alike.

Recorded in Paris and England with producer Markus Dravs (Bjork, Arcade Fire, Coldplay) it includes songs No Kind Words and singles Love You Better and Can You Give It.

In the last few years the band have won over a whole new legion of fans, building upon the success of their debut album, Colour It In, three sold-out headline tours, and key festival appearances at Isle of Wight, Glastonbury and T in The Park.

Guitarist Hugo White said: “All the shows on this tour will be a kind of celebration of both of our albums not just the new one.

“We’ll be playing songs from them both as well as doing a few well known covers and even have a few surprises up our sleeves but I can’t say what.”
