Crowds have gathered for a surprise performance by Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins at a London station.

The 46-year-old mezzo soprano performed a reimagined version of Belinda Carlisle’s Heaven Is A Place on Earth to lucky travellers on Friday.

Wearing a black turtle neck and red trousers, Jenkins was accompanied by a piano and belted out the song at London’s St Pancras International station in front of its 11-metre German-inspired, Christmas pyramid tree.

Katherine Jenkins surprised St Pancras International commuters with a special performance of the M&S Christmas advert soundtrack Heaven Is A Place On Earth beneath the station’s festive tree.

It comes after Jenkins lent her voice for a rendition of the song in the recent James Norton and Lucy Punch Christmas advert for Marks & Spencer’s.

The festive campaign sees Punch encourage Norton, as Santa Claus, to shave his beard, suggesting it might be aging him a little bit.

“They say it takes years off,” she says.

After hesitating he decides to go through with it.

Singer Katherine Jenkins made a special appearance at St Pancras International station singing the Marks & Spencer’s Christmas advert song ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’.

He says: “I’ve never actually experienced Christmas. So I had an idea. I ‘d love to see what Christmas is really like out there.

“And now no one is going to recognise me.”

Ditching the Santa suit for a black leather jacket and red scarf, Norton struts around London before stepping into a Christmas concert with a special cameo from Jenkins.

Performing the track with a school choir, Jenkins appeared in the ad wearing a sparkly black dress.

Later, Norton is invited to dinner party where he enthusiastically participates in a game of charades.

The advert ends with Norton arriving at an M&S shop before returning to the North Pole.

Jenkins, who was previously named the biggest selling classical artist of the century by Classic FM, has released 14 number one albums since she signed to Universal Classics at the age of 22.
