SEVERAL of the nation’s top comedians will be standing in the spotlight at the Chateau Impney next month as part of a major new comedy event.

The Impney Comedy Night is being styled as a ‘Live at the Apollo’ type stand up show, with hit comedians Jason Byrne, Hal Cruttenden, Justin Moorhouse and Gary Delaney, all taking to the stage in front of a live audience of 900.

Irish stand-up Jason Byrne, who ran a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival, as well as writing a six-episode comedy series for the BBC, is well-known for his appearances on Live at the Apollo itself and John Bishop’s Only Joking, while Hal Cruttenden is a regular on several TV panel shows, including Would I Lie to You? and Mock the Week.

Comedian and actor Justin Moorhouse is best known for his role in the cult TV show Phoenix Nights, but he has also appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Fighting Talk, while Gary Delaney is a brilliantly deadpan comedian with a set full of quotable one-liners, several of which have made Dave’s Top 10 Funniest Jokes at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as giving him the edge on Mock the Week more than once.

Ben Elder, Chateau Impney’s general manager, said: “We’re so excited to be bringing big time comedy to the Chateau. The popularity of TV comedy panel shows has soared in recent years and to be able to welcome some of the best known faces on the comedy circuit, who are also regulars on these programmes, to our first event is fantastic.

“We are hoping local people turn out in force, join us for a big night out and leave smiling. If this event proves to be a success, then we aim to make The Impney Comedy Night a regular fixture, turning Droitwich into Worcestershire’s comedy capital,”

Tickets to The Impney Comedy Night, which is taking place on Friday, May 1, with doors opening at 7.15pm for the show’s start at 8.15pm. Tickets start from £30 per person. For more information, visit chateau-impney.com/comedy.
