YOUNG people are being encouraged to banish boredom and keep summer exciting with a number of workshops at the Palace Theatre.

As part of the theatre’s Summer Youth Festival there will be a number of workshops throughout August, including a musical history showcase which is a week of songs from musicals throughout the ages.

From August 3 to 7 the theatre will be looking at musicals set in the 1920s through to the modern day.

Anyone interested will also get the chance to learn and perform a unique showcase for parents at the end of the week.

From August 10 to 14 there will be a week of stage combat which will begin with a basic introduction to unarmed stage combat before giving children the chance to see how a piece of choreography is put together for theatre and film.

The last workshop runs from August 17 to 21 and will give children the chance to explore different acting styles and techniques and devise a short performance looking at a museum coming to life.

The workshops will run from 10am to 4pm each day and all of the weeks will result in a performance for parents.

Workshops cost £135 per week (Reddicard £90 and concessionary Reddicards £67.50).
