ALL the way from Australia to Feckenham Village Hall comes a remarkable band called Bush Gothic.

Rattled by the bones of felons and steeped in campfire smoke, this outstanding Australian bush trio performs riveting songs from the era of criminal women and convict men, treachery and transportation.

This most daring group started in 2009 with a series of urban bush band sessions – gigs where every week a new crop of musicians would join Jenny's 'bush band' and improvise through a playlist of traditional Australian songs.

The band played its first gig as a live-to-air broadcast on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio National's The Music Show.

The Guardian described fiddle-singer and band leader Jenny M. Thomas as an 'edgy rising folk star', The Unthanks invited them to perform at their own festival and together with double bassist Dan Witton and drummer Chris Lewis they toured the UK and Ireland in 2016 and 2017 with sold out concerts everywhere they go.

A spokesman from Feckenham Village Hall said: "The folks at Feckenham won’t be serving witchetty grubs or anything else wriggly - but you will have a chance to enjoy a free Australian snack or two alongside some Aussie drinks from our bar.

"Make this a Sunday evening with a difference - lick a Lamington, sup some Shiraz and enjoy some lovely music - what better way to wrap up the weekend?"

The show, on Sunday, November 18, has been brought to Redditch’s rural outpost by Shindig - the county’s performing arts scheme.

Curtain up 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm and there’s a licensed bar.

Tickets (£11) are on sale at the Village Shop and The Rose & Crown in Feckenham or you can book online at ticketsource.co.uk/feckenham.
