A BROMSGROVE charity, which moved to new town premises earlier this year, is opening its doors to the public on Thursday, September 26.

The Basement Project provides practical and emotional support for youngsters aged between 16 and 25-years-old.

The success of the service in the 15 years since being founded led to it outgrowing its previous home at Bromsgrove Baptist Church, and moving to a new centre at Hanover House in Hanover Street in June.

During the open day the charity’s supporters and interested members of the public can meet up and see the work of the organisation first-hand.

Jackie Hooper, operations manager, said: “We really appreciate all the support we have received from individuals and organisations in the area, especially over the last 12 months.

“We rely on local help, whether this is a single tin of food given to us outside a supermarket or a large financial donation, and we want to both thank our supporters and show them more of what we actually do.”

The open day is being held from 10am until 2pm. No appointment is necessary, simply drop in as there will be someone on hand to show visitors round and introduce them to members of the team.

The open day follows a recent visit by Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid.
During the tour Mr Javid heard from operations manager, Jackie Hooper and outreach worker, Nina Mozolakova, about the current state of homelessness in the area, and what changes they were seeing in terms of the causes of homelessness.

The MP praised the project on its worthwhile and excellent work, and its new premises.
