A MENTAL-health inpatient unit in Bromsgrove has been rated as excellent by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Keith Winter Close, which is run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, treats mentally ill patients who are preparing to rejoin the community, helping them to manage their own medication and offering a range of educational and training opportunities.
The 12 bed unit was given rigorous inspections, with a team of peer clinicians from the Royal College of Psychiatrists taking a tour around the site, examining health records and listening to the views of carers and patients.
Derek Hammond, clinical lead for adult mental health for Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “This confirms that our services are of a high quality. The aim of the changes we have made was to improve patient care and ensure patients get the very best treatment whether that’s at home or in an inpatient unit.
“I am very proud of all our staff for the hard work they have put in. The next challenge is to continue this level of excellence when delivering care to some of our most vulnerable patients.”
