THE Bromsgrove group Words, promoting interest in the written and spoken word, is encouraging people to attend its next event being held in the town.

Writer, broadcaster and ex stand up comedian Natalie Haynes will be speaking at a event being held at the Artrix Theatre, in School Drive, on Friday, March 14.

Natalie was a stand up comedian for 12 years, and the first woman to ever be nominated for the prestigious Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

She retired from comedy in 2009 to devote more time to her writing. Her first non-fiction book, The Ancient Guide to Modern Life, was serialised by The Times in 2010, and has had international success.

Natalie’s first novel The Amber Fury is being published this month.

Natalie has also appeared on BBC Radio 4 as a presenter of documentaries, and is a reviewer of books, films, plays, television and art on Saturday Review and Front Row.

The event is being held at the theatre from 8pm.

Tickets cost £12, £9 for Words members.
