EX-colleagues at the former Lea Hospital in Bromsgrove travelled from across the UK to gather for an emotional reunion, having not seen each other in more than 20 years.

Old workmates came from as far as Scotland and Wales to reunite at the Holiday Inn on Kidderminster Road on Saturday (February 11), sharing their memories of working together.

The former NHS hospital, which cared for children with mental health issues, closed two decades ago when the Stourbridge Road site was earmarked for residential development in 1992.

Former ward sister Sue Finch, 55, who was one of three ex-colleagues to organise the event, said: "We put it on Facebook and it just ballooned – around 30 of us turned up in the end.

"Everybody was just chatting with one another, having a laugh and sharing memories.

"Somebody came from Wales, one came down from Scotland and one or two came from Leicester, although a lot of us still live near Bromsgrove.

"It was brilliant. It is the first time we have seen each other for 20 years. It was really good to catch up – now everybody wants to do it again!"
