AN Indian restaurant in Bromsgrove turned purple for the night to mark the launch of a new charity campaign for the Stoke Association.

The 'Purple Party' at Spice Valley Balti in Worcester Road saw 65 colour-coordinated guests turn out to mark the restaurant's 17th anniversary, and welcome the start of 17 days of fundraising.

The family-run restaurant will be offering diners a special £17 two-course meal for two until November 22 - excluding Fridays and Saturdays - with £1 from each purchase going to the Bromsgrove charity.

Stroke Association community and events fundraiser Ruth Tandy said: "We are thrilled and incredibly grateful that Spice Valley Balti has chosen to raise money for the Stroke Association through its 17th birthday celebrations.

"The money will go a long way in helping to support people who are living with the effects of stroke, as well as their families and carers. We look forward to working with the restaurant on its next fundraising event in January.”

At the campaign launch party on Monday (October 30), Spice Valley and Stroke Association staff were joined by Best of Bromsgrove owner Lyndon Stokes and Bromsgrove District Council chairman Helen Jones.

Speaking after the event, Cllr Jones said: "It is wonderful that the restaurant is supporting such an amazing charity in conjunction with its celebrations. Happy birthday Spice Valley Balti.”
