CHILDREN at Charford First School cut the ribbon on the village's Co-op and Post Office to mark its relaunch after a £1million refurb.
The Gilbert Road supermarket was reopened yesterday after five weeks, now boasting an in-store bakery, award-winning wines and its usual healthy foods and meal ideas - and three new members of staff.
To mark the relaunch, a cheque for £500 was presented to visiting schoolkids.
Area manager Jon Bottomley said: "We are delighted to have undertaken such a significant investment in Charford, and proud to be part of the community.
"We have had a great response, and we are looking forward to serving the community.
"The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum, and our ambition is to ensure the store is a local hub and an asset for the community."
The store, which opens from 6am to 11pm, is aiming to bring a funding boost for local causes through its membership scheme.
The initiative offers members a five per cent reward on the purchase of own-branded products, with the Co-op donating a further one per cent to charity.
