The jury was today sent out to decide the fate of murder accused Niron Parker-Lee has started to consider its verdict.

The 20-year-old, who admits he delivered the fatal stab wound that killed 24-year-old Mansoor Mahmood in Brierley Hill High Street on October 15, 2016, denies murder - insisting he acted in self-defence.

The trial at Birmingham Crown Court has heard that there was “a history of trouble” between the two men due to drugs.

Traffic restrictions around a busy Stourbridge park are being made permanent to ease congestion.

Parking along Norton Road has caused congestion around Mary Stevens Park and also stopped access for buses, but highways officials put restrictions in place in October 2016.

The measures to stop parking along lengths of the A451 have been successful at preventing the congestion, so the council is now looking to make them permanent.

A Netherton man who was jailed for life for brutally killing his wife with a hammer committed suicide in prison, an inquest heard.

Paul Abbott, aged 57, was jailed in July 2016 after he admitted murdering 54-year-old Jackie Abbott at their Lodge Crescent home on December 11, 2015.

Exactly 12 months after he "flipped" and rained blows on his wife's head with a hammer, Abbott, who was told he would serve a minimum of 15 years behind bars, was found dead at HMP Long Lartin in Evesham.

Heartbroken family of a former Kidderminster model who died after being hit by a train have paid an emotional tribute to her.

Tiffani Bannister was found dead on the line near Kidderminster train station on Friday (February 9) shortly before 10pm.

Officers from West Mercia Police and British Transport Police attended and her death is currently being treated as “unexplained” while they have also put out an appeal for witnesses.

Council leaders across Worcestershire have agreed to relocate more Syrian refugees across the county.

Leaders including Bromsgrove's Geoff Denaro have agreed to host up to 50 Syrian refugees in Worcestershire.

The aim is to resettle refugee families in different areas of the county - but it not known where that could be.

Vandalism and anti-social behaviour has forced green-fingered allotment owners in Halesowen to take action to keep their site safe.

The Highfield Park Allotment Association has now installed new fencing – thanks to grants from the Belle Vale and Hayley Green and Cradley South Community Forum – at their Highfield Lane base.
