West Midlands Ambulance Service has thanked search and rescue volunteers for coming to the aid of crew members who became stranded in heavy snow in Stourbridge on Saturday.

Members of the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) were deployed to help move ambulances which became stuck in Foxcote Lane, a country lane on the Cradley/Wollescote border, which had been left impassable by substantial snow drifts.

Stourbridge College is to stop offering A-level courses, bosses have confirmed.

The college, part of BMet, intends to phase out the academic further education courses over the next 18 months.

Instead – the college based in Hagley Road will be looking to focus more on vocational schemes, offering Apprenticeships and embracing new T-level qualifications from 2020.

A 24-year-old man is believed to have suffered "life-changing" injuries after being attacked outside a Dudley hotel yesterday morning (Sunday).

Emergency services were called to The Village Hotel at around 11.30am and rushed the victim to hospital.

His injuries are thought to be "life changing but not life threatening," according to police.

A woman, who was in the lobby of the Castlegate Drive hotel at the time of the attack, said: “His girlfriend came into reception screaming that her boyfriend was hurt and had been stabbed.”

A wrong turn into a Netherton cul-de-sac has sent a drug dealer to prison for six years.

Theodore Harris made the mistake of driving into The Willows, where two police officers just happened to be present, making enquiries into an unrelated matter.

They went over to Harris' car and spotted a throwing axe lying by the front passenger seat, said Antonie Muller, prosecuting.

He told Wolverhampton Crown Court that the find resulted in a detailed search of the vehicle, which saw the officers discover £2,000 worth of high purity cocaine, together with heroin and cannabis.

A drink driver who deliberately rammed a police car during a high speed pursuit has been put behind bars for 17 months.

Kieron Logan, of Pound Road, Oldbury, was arrested by police just hours after appearing before magistrates on another drink driving charge.

The 34-year-old was bailed when he faced the Cannock bench to deny the excess alcohol charge and his actions later demonstrated he had a complete disregard for court orders, said Judge Amjad Nawaz.

The Redditch to Bromsgrove Highway was reopened in the early hours of this morning after a crash yesterday evening (Sunday) which left a child with critical injuries.

Six people were treated in total after the two-vehicle road smash on the A448, between Brockhill and the Tardebigge junction, which emergency services were alerted to at 6.45pm yesterday.

A Redditch dad is convinced Pizza Hut took a photo of him eating in one of their restaurants - and says 'his face' is printed on their takeaway boxes.

Stunned Nick Richardson, 39, started to receive texts from friends around a month ago asking why his face was on their pizza boxes.

Even his own family thought it was him and Nick complained.

But the restaurant chain denied the allegation and said it was a member of their creative team - but refused to send him the original photo.

Family and friends of a Kidderminster war hero who was honoured for six decades of volunteering will bid her a fond farewell later this month.

A full military funeral – featuring a horse drawn carriage, a bugler and standard bearers - will be held for Joyce Foxall and will take place at St Mary’s Church in Kidderminster on Wednesday March 14 at 11am.
