POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 20s sustained serious injuries in a car crash on the M42 at Bromsgrove.
An Audi was involved in a collision with a central reservation on the westbound carriageway between junctions one and two at around 8.15pm on Friday (March 9).
The driver of a Ford Focus stopped to help on the hard shoulder, when he was hit by a BMW.
Police officers, two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a BASICS doctor were sent to the scene.
The Focus driver - a man in his 20s - sustained serious leg injuries which required surgery.
He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, where he is still being monitored.
Road closures were in place while emergency services were at the scene.
Investigating officers from West Mercia Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or either of the vehicles prior to the crash.
A spokesman for the force said: "If you have any information, please call PC Stu Collins on 101, quoting incident number 681 of 9 March 2018."
