A DIGITAL speed limit sign on the A456 in Hagley has finally been fixed after seven months, much to the delight of road safety campaigners.
The sign on the Worcester Road flashes when passing drivers exceed the 30mph limit, but hasn’t worked since it broke last year.
Although it is the responsibility of Hagley Parish Council, Worcestershire County Council said they would fix it as soon as possible – but it has only now been completed.
Bromsgrove District Councillor for Hagley West, cllr Steve Colella, said: "It’s great news that after more than seven months the A456 warning speed sign has been repaired.
“This is great news and I thank those residents who have fought very hard to get it back up and running again.”
But cllr Colella is still seeking changes to the road and its layout, which he says has caused safety issues since changes were made due to the Cala Homes development in 2013.
He added: “With one positive 'result' finally being achieved I await a reply in respect of the road layout issues and my request for an enquiry into the highway road changes made as part of the Kidderminster Road planning application."
A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: "Worcestershire County Council resolved the issues with the speed warning signs along the A456 in Hagley, despite the sign being the responsibility of the Parish Council.
"We are currently considering various options to improve the highways situation in this area."
