THE town's annual St George's Day celebration is returning to the high street this month, with live performances, activities and displays.

Residents and visitors are invited to honour England's patron saint on Saturday, April 21 from 12pm to 4pm - and support the launch of Sanders Park's 50th anniversary celebration.

Singer Vicky Else, Nancy Butterfly Dancers, morris dancers, Artrix's Songstars Choir and Blackwell Wind Band will be among the performers.

There will also be circus skills from Steve Kaos, children's craft activities, a face painter, and display of classic cars.

The Bromsgrove Society will be collecting memories and photos of Sanders Park from residents and visitors, ahead of a series of special commemorative events to mark the park's 50th anniversary later this year.

The St George's Day event is being hosted by Bromsgrove District Council, Friends of St John's, Artrix and the Bromsgrove Society.

Val Wilson, events officer at the council, said: "Our annual St George’s Day event is always very popular and this year there is lots going on.

"So whether you’re one or 91 pop down and enjoy a lovely day out.

"We’re also happy to be working with the Bromsgrove Society to launch the 50 year celebrations of Sanders Park at our St George’s Day event, and hope residents get involved and bring their memories of the park.”
