A FUNDRAISING tea party to raise money for cats is being held at the Blue Cross centre in Catshill.

Animal lovers can enjoy tea and cake at the centre's 'Paws for Tea' event on Saturday, May 19, from 9am until 1pm - the day of the Royal wedding.

Delicious cakes, games, and raffles will be available and all money raised will help homeless, unwanted, and abandoned cats.

Neil Edwards, centre manager at Blue Cross on Wildmoor Lane in Catshill, said: “We are inviting local animal lovers to join us in raising a toast to the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a slice of cake and a cuppa.

"All money raised will help the pets in Blue Cross care – every penny really does make a difference.”

Pet lovers are also being urged to host their own tea party fundraisers to toast the Royal wedding.

To sign up for a free Blue Cross Paws for Tea fundraising pack, full of ideas and recipes for hosting a tea party including posters, balloons and a collection box, visit bluecross.org.uk/paws-tea or call 08444 993 663.

As well as the tea party, the first car boot sale of the year will also take plate from 9am until midday, and will continue every fortnight through the summer, costing £5 per car a £10 per van/trailer. Sellers can start setting up from 7.30am.

Visitors to the centre's event can also take part in their annual sponsored dog walk.

Two routes offer a shorter mile-long walk suitable for younger children and those with disabilities, or a longer walk stretching to 4.5 miles for those wanting more of a challenge. Sponsorship forms can be collected from the centre or walkers can pay £5 on the day. All dogs taking part will receive a certificate, rosette and goodie bag.
