BROMSGROVE'S new Aldi store will be officially opened on Thursday, creating 30 new jobs.

Rugby star Tom Mitchell, who was in Team GB's silver medal-winning squad at Rio 2016, will officially cut the ribbon at 8am on Thursday, August 9.

Tom, originally from Cuckfield, said: “I’m looking forward to my morning at Aldi Bromsgrove, it’s a great feeling to give back to the community and help inspire customers to get cooking with fresh produce and get active with the kids.”

Store manager Gary Griffiths added: “We’re excited for Tom to kick off the opening celebrations at our Bromsgrove store, it’s a great way to welcome shoppers through our doors.

"We’ve got some fantastic opening week Specialbuys on offer, as well as some excellent prices on fresh, British produce, so we look forward to opening our doors to everyone."

Aldi is also gifting the first 30 shoppers with a complimentary bag full of fresh fruit and vegetables from its Super 6 range, as part of their 'Get Set to Eat Fresh' initiative, which encourages the nation to eat fresh British produce.

The 1,254sqm store is located on Birmingham Road and will be open Monday to Saturday 8am until 10pm, and 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
