BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has thrown his weight behind a bid to crown the town's high street as the best in Britain.
The council and traders have joint forces to enter Bromsgrove into the Great British High Street 2018 competition.
And Mr Javid believes its a great opportunity to celebrate the town's "gold standard" high street.
He said: “Bromsgrove town centre is going from strength to strength.
"Our local high street is a great example of how creativity, hard work and support for local businesses allows regional economies to flourish.
"Bromsgrove town centre sets the gold standard for other towns and cities.”
The 26 shortlisted entries will go through to a public vote and be visited by a judging panel made up of industry leaders from across retail, property and business.
Britain’s best high street will be announced in November, with the winner receiving a £10,000 cash prize for a local community project.
Winners from each of the remaining nations will receive a £5,000 contribution to a street party or community project.
