APPLICATIONS for schools admission in Worcestershire in 2019 are now open.

The applications opened on September 1 for a place at all schools for intake in September 2019.

The deadline to apply for a place for high school is the October 31 2018, and January 15 2019 for primary, first, infant, junior and middle schools.

Cabinet member with responsibility for education and skills at Worcestershire County Council, councillor Marcus Hart, said: "Starting school and the transition up the educational ladder are big steps for children, and we aim to make this change as smooth as possible.

"We are pleased that with admission for September 2018 every child that applied had a place offered to them, with 93 per cent getting their first choice preference.

"However it is especially important that the deadlines for application are met to avoid missing out on a place."

Letters and guides on starting school or transitioning to a new school will be sent to schools to be distributed to those eligible to transition to new schools next year.

There is also a secure online system where parents can create an account and submit an application.

Online access is available at any library and those requiring assistance can call school admissions on 01905 822700.

The online system will also include guides on starting school or transitioning to a new school.
