M&S Longbridge has teamed up with a social media app for mums to tackle loneliness amongst new parents in the community.

The app, MUSH, was set up by mums Katie Massie-Taylor met Sarah Hesz, who struck up a conversation on a playground and became friends. Hundreds of thousands of mums across the UK have signed up to MUSH to find mum-friends in their area.

As part of the M&S's Longbridge transformation programme, the supermarket cafe in the high street is hosting MUSH meet-ups every other Thursday from 10.30am to 12pm.

Attendees can enjoy a free tea or coffee while making friendships with fellow parents.

Andrew McCurry, store manager at M&S Longbridge, said: "Loneliness is an issue that’s incredibly important to us, and the work that MUSH undertakes in tackling isolation for local mums is fantastic, and we’re proud to be partnering with organisations that support our customers and the community alike.

"We hope to welcome more local mums to the next meet-up.”

Other initiatives in the transformation programme include RVS events to reconnect the elderly, the Frazzled Cafe for those feeling overwhelmed, and partnerships with local charities.

MUSH co-founder Sarah Hesz said: "We are thrilled to be working with M&S, MUSH is all about bringing mums together because we know that finding your local mum community makes you a happier mum. Coffee and cake also help."
