NORDIC walkers in Bromsgrove are attempting to walk 10 million steps to honour those who died during the First World War.

Members of Mercian Nordic Walking will be tackling the 10 million-step challenge throughout this month to mark the centenary of the armistice signing.

Owner of Mercian Nordic Walking Ian Northcott said: "I asked my members if they collectively would like to try to walk 10 million steps in the month of November to remember those who lost their lives in the first world war.

"As many of my clients have walked the battlefields of France with me they jumped at the chance.

"The entry fee is to buy a poppy from anywhere but donate £10 - then tell me the number of steps you walk per day.”

The group will also be holding a commemorative walk on Armistice Day, with all money raised going to the British Legion.
