LAST month saw the incredible Acorns community come together for a spectacular 30th anniversary celebration.

In what was truly a humbling display of unity, the event, named Acorns Birthday Glow in the Park, brought together hundreds of children and families, supporters, staff and volunteers from across the West Midlands.

The charity, which has its headquarters in Wythall, has been holding a number of celebrations, awareness campaigns and family events throughout the year to bring Acorns "back into the hearts and minds of the local communities that built and support our family of three hospices".

On the recent Birthday Glow in the Park, a spokesman said: "We’re very fortunate to have the most dedicated supporters, staff and volunteers who are committed to making every day count for the children and families we care for.

"Seeing them come together to celebrate 30 years of Acorns was a proud moment and it was clear from the smiles on the many faces that the event created new precious memories.

"But we couldn’t mark this milestone without honouring the children and families we’ve cared for over the last three decades."
