A HOSPITAL trust which runs the town's Alexandra Hospital has appointed a new associate non-executive director

Qualified accountant Colin Horwath has spent his career working with the public sector.

He was a partner with KPMG, based in Birmingham, for 20 years, leading audit and advisory assignments.

Since leaving KPMG he continued his involvement with the public sector, serving as deputy chair of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust until May 2018.

He is currently a non-executive director of Birmingham Children’s Trust, as well as a partner in a small executive recruitment and search firm, and governor of a high school in Stafford.

Mr Horwath said: "I’m passionate about working with public service organisations that help those individuals in the community most in need. I have a particular strength in governance, and relish the opportunity to help organisations establish governance arrangements that meet the highest standards.”

David Nicholson, chairman of the trust, said: “Colin will bring a wealth of expertise and insight to the board and my colleagues and I are looking forward to working with him.”

Mr Horwath’s term of office runs from February 1 for 12 months and he is entitled to receive a remuneration of £6,157 per year.
