AN ENTHUSIASTIC group of young people are set to put on a concert to celebrate all things Welsh next week.

From 6pm on February 21, the St. David's concert held at Holyhead's Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi school will include performances from its own students, as well as pupils from nearby primary schools, Ysgol Cybi, Llanfawr, Kingslands, St. Mary's and Y Fali.

Youngsters at Ysgol Caergybi hope that by charging just £1 for tickets, a number of community members will come and support their event and enjoy their singing and recitals.

To support the pupils, the popular local band, the Magee Brothers, will be performing new original compositions such as ‘Libertat a Catalunya’ and ‘ Y Wladfa‘.

There’s an exciting finale to the Concert as all the performers will join the Holyhead Male Voice Choir in a super-choir on stage, but before that, the Choir has also promised to sing some powerful Welsh songs songs such as ‘Finlandia’ and ‘the Celtic Anthem’.

The tickets are on sale at Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi secondary school and MônCF offices. They’ll also be on sale at the door on the night of the Concert.

The Concert is part of the town’s initiative to celebrate St David’s, as the town’s saint Cybi was in fact the brother of Non, the mother of St David. Exactly a fortnight later, on the 7th of March at 10am, starting from St Mary’s Church, the town will celebrate again with a grand Parade which this year is attracting visitors from afar a field as Ireland.
