VANDALISM to a set of temporary traffic lights in Bromsgrove caused them to catch fire in the early hours of yesterday (Tuesday).

Severn Trent Water confirmed that temporary lights in Money Lane, between Catshill and Romsley, had been damaged in the incident which happened just after midnight.

A Severn Trent Water spokesperson said on Tuesday: “Last night, our traffic lights on Money Lane in Bromsgrove were vandalised, and as a result, caught fire.

"This is really disappointing as the work that we’re doing in the area to replace the water pipes is really important.

"We want our customers to continue to have wonderful water for generations to come, so we’ve now replaced the lights and the work goes on.”

It took firefighters from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service approximately half an hour to put out the blaze.
