MORE than £3,000 has been raised to give a dying Bromsgrove man and his fiancee a dream wedding.

Jay Snellus was recently diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, known as a glioblastoma tumour.

The news came as a huge shock to 34-year-old Jay, his partner Maria, and their children, as well as Jay's family and friends.

Since the devastating blow those around Jay have vowed to help him, and his family, live a normal life as best they can and enjoy a wedding to remember.

And thanks to the generosity of the Bromsgrove community the couple have a wedding booked at Manor Hill in Upton Warren on May 14.

Kind-hearted people have also donated rings, flowers, jewellery for the wedding party, a car, cake, balloons, and many other items for the special day.

A fundraising page set up to help Jay and Maria, who got engaged two years ago, has already raised more than £3,000.

It says: "At this moment in time all we know is that Jay will eventually pass away and lose his battle to this awful disease.

"We are hopeful that with treatment he can live a normal life as best he can for the time has left and we will do anything possible to give him and his family the happiest memories.

"Jay and Maria both want to get married and know they’re running out of time, with not knowing the time frame Jay has left and circumstances meaning they have other priorities they need to save for.

"We would like to try to raise enough money for them to get married and take the children on their first family holiday."

Organisers say the response from Bromsgrove people has been astounding.
