WEST Mercia Police are on the lookout for candidates to enter its young good citizens awards for 2019.

The award scheme was created as an opportunity to recognise and publicise the work done by many young people in the community.

Chief Inspector James Baker said: "The Young Good Citizen Award Scheme is run by West Mercia Police in partnership with the High Sheriffs of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

"It aims to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of young people in the community. Previous young good citizen achievements have included outstanding fund-raising activities and exemplary unselfishness in their attitude towards others.

"We want to celebrate the achievements of those aged 18 or under who have displayed great spirit and are making a real difference in their communities."

The awards are open to those aged 18 or under who have displayed community spirit and are making a real difference, especially young people who have overcome challenges in their own lives and have still been able to make a difference to others.

Nomination forms can be found on the West Mercia website, and should be sent to Chief Inspector Baker at Kidderminster Police Station, Habberley Road, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, DY11 6AN.
