Haybridge Sixth Form community officers got behind The Great British Spring Clean by blitzing Hagley Park.

Armed with litters pickers, bags and hi-viz jackets they collected a huge amount of rubbish. In just 90 minutes the students filled 13 bags full of rubbish, finding two chairs and a traffic cone amongst the waste.

Bromsgrove District Council supplied the students with the equipment needed and collected the rubbish at the end of the day.

The students worked in small groups and scoured the edges of the park adjacent to the village and Hagley train station.

Hagley Parish Council members Mrs Burkes and Mrs Sahota joined Haybridge staff members to tackle the Hagley stream which was full of bottles, plastic and cans.

Sixth Form achievement coordinator Antonia Barnsley said: “Everyone very kindly gave their time to support this Spring Clean and took part cheerfully. It is certainly something Haybridge and our sixth form community officers will do again.”
