LICKEY End locals are looking to liven up their Bank Holiday weekend by staging a first ever scarecrow festival.
The idea for the festival followed conversations from a resident Facebook group.
Spokesperson Lizzie Ford insisted: "We're not expecting to rival a similar festival in Belbroughton, but it was something we thought the whole community could get involved with.
"We're asking residents to put out Scarecrows tonight until Monday so that people can stroll around and take in the sights".
The festival is being backed by Vicky's Convenience Store and Post Office who have agreed to provide prizes for the best turned out scarecrows.
And the store has already set the tone by putting out the first scarecrow.
Lizze Ford added: "We first came up with the idea about six weeks ago and then organised a leaflet drop around Lickey End.
"We asked everyone when they would like to stage the event and they all came up with this Bank Holiday weekend."
