A BROMSGROVE teacher has narrowly missed out on a prestigious award.

Ashlea Brewer, from Lickey Hills Primary School, was one of the most popular finalists in this year’s Worcestershire Education Awards with one nomination describing him as “the best teacher in the world.”

Mr Brewer, 24, has been with the school, near Bromsgrove, since 2016 and said: “Just being nominated was amazing.

“It is a real surprise but I am delighted to be nominated.

“This school is really going in the right direction and this recognition proves that the teamwork is really paying off.”

Headteacher Amanda Salisbury said: “Mr Brewer is a great asset to our brilliant staff team.

“He has a very firm but fair teaching style and the children enjoy the challenges he provides in their learning.”

Mr Brewer started at Lickey having carried out his teacher training placement there, and he said he fell in love with the school and its countryside location.

In addition to teaching, Mr Brewer, is regularly involved in extra-curricular activities with his pupils.
