KNIT two, pearl four, turn 100 - that's how it went for a knitting-mad Bromsgrove woman who enjoyed a landmark birthday this week.

Ena Cummings celebrated becoming a centurian on August 13 (Tuesday) with a meal with her family at The Dodford Inn.

Her two children - Pamela and Alan - attended the meal, as did her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ena was born in Newport, Wales in 1919 but moved to Bromsgrove when she was 15 and has lived there ever since.

She met husband Bill, who passed away in 1985, at the Austin motor company during World War II.

Ena's greatest hobby has always been knitting and crochet, something she still enjoys to this day.

Son Alan said: "We had a lovely meal and the beauty of it was that the weather was absolutely superb and then it hammered down the next day so I think God was smiling over her."
