One of the first students to enrol at a Rhyl college nine years ago has returned to take up a teacher's post.
Ryan Roberts joined the Rhyl Sixth to study A-levels when it originally opened in 2010, after completing his GCSEs at Rhyl High School.
Nearly a decade later - following a detour via the University of Swansea and The University of Chester - he has returned to the Rhyl College campus to teach Maths at A-level.
Mr Roberts said: “Studying for my A-levels at Rhyl Sixth suited me down to the ground, it has a much more relaxed atmosphere and was a great foundation for my degree studies.
"I am really enjoying my return to Rhyl College and love teaching Maths to the students. It still feels a little surreal.”
A keen footballer who has played for Prestatyn Town, Mr Robert's first teaching role was at Eirias High School, but after seeing a vacancy for a Maths tutor at the Rhyl Sixth on the college’s website, he applied, as he has always wanted to teach Maths.
Martin Evans, Head of Rhyl Sixth, said: “Ryan is a credit to the Rhyl Sixth: he was an excellent student then and is an inspirational teacher now.”
