DUDLEY Kingswinford continued their perfect start to the new Midlands One West season with victory at Worcester.

DK bagged a 54-14 win under the floodlights last Friday night to go top of the table with three wins from three games.

The success was a pleasing one for director of rugby Neil Shillingford after seeing his side show more impressive game management qualities.

He said: "It was a very good final result at the end of a competitive game.

"It was only until the last third that we pulled away from them, which is a credit to our fitness and conditioning.

"We started well but they came back at us and there was a stage when they were camped in our half.

"We put on a really defensive setting, kept them at bay and then broke on them to score ourselves.

"That is all part of that game management again and being able to really punish teams when we get the chance.

"The pleasing thing about the Worcester game is that we showed a lot of aspects that we've been working on in training.

"I also think the players are starting to really believe in what we are doing as well. They can see we are having success and are backing themselves to carry it out."

DK will now take on another unbeaten side in fourth-placed Hereford this Saturday. The clash kicks off at Heathbrook at 3pm.

The game is also being used as a double header in the North Mids Cup with the winner securing a place in the next round as well as taking the league points.

Shillingford added: "We are expecting a tough encounter just like in previous seasons against a very competitive Hereford side.

"They have added some pace to their team this season and we are going to have to make sure we are switched on defensively before taking our own game to them."
