THE Old Radnor WI meeting was held on October 1 in Walton Hall.

Members were delighted to welcome Stephanie Kemp, founder of the Designer Weaving Company and curator of Newtown Textile Museum who gave a very interesting talk entitled Designed for Liberty.

For 15 years under her label Stephanie Jane she designed and manufactured clothes for Liberty of London and their stores across the world.

Stephanie brought along her sketches and a selection of her Liberty garments.

Members were also able to see and try the jackets made under her Designer Weaving Company label.

Members were very happy to welcome guests from the community and other WIs and especially two honoured guests, Joy Jones and Cicely Bayliss, both past presidents of Old Radnor WI.

Joy featured on the video shown during the meeting as she was president when Stephanie held her fashion show in Walton Hall in 1991 and everyone shared in Cicely's delight at watching Peter Bayliss doing a very good job on the catwalk.

Elsie won the competition – a corsage/buttonhole any medium.

The annual meeting is to be held in Walton Hall on November 5.

The Old Radnor WI whist drive will be held on November 27 from 7pm at Walton Hall. Come along for an entertaining evening, refreshments included. Top prize £10.
