THE Green Party candidate for Halesowen and Rowley Regis has been revealed.

James Windridge will contest the seat for the Greens, where he will campaign to protect the green belt, promote more eco-friendly jobs in manufacturing and increase investment in the NHS.

Mr Windridge said: "I live in Halesowen and I am representing the Green Party in Halesowen and Rowley Regis, so voters who care about the natural world, how people are treated and want a healthy relationship with the EU can have a voice and a party to vote for.

"Even before my degree in Biology I was always fascinated about the world we live in. I grew increasingly frustrated with national politics and humanity's ability to destroy the very planet we live on, so I decided to get off my backside and do something to try and change things.

“The Green Party was my natural choice - although the Greens don't get much airtime, when people hear our ideas it's amazing how many of them say we are doing the right things.

“Locally, I’m keen to represent and champion our local expertise in manufacturing and engineering to benefit from the Green New Deal and bring hundreds of great new jobs to the area and that we protect our green belt land from development.”

James is also backing a People's Vote for a second referendum on Brexit.

Halesowen and Rowley Regis was a heavily Leave-voting seat in the 2016 referendum - with Leave taking 66.59 per cent of the vote.

He said: "However you voted in 2016 nobody is happy with how Brexit has been handled and I believe we deserve a People’s Vote to let voters have the final say on their future based on the facts as they are today.

"Brexit will mean job losses, the end of freedom of movement and less protections for the environment."
