A SELFLESS Bromsgrove schoolgirl made it her mission to collect food for homeless people over Christmas after being struck by their plight on a visit to London.

Alivia Faulkner, 10, donated two boxes of food she collected from friends, family and school - along with a box of thermal flasks - to the Bromsgrove Basement Project.

Proud dad Russell said: "After a family to trip London, Alivia was saddened at the amount of homeless people on the street.

"So with some pocket money she brought a multi bag of crisps, a bag of oranges and some chocolates and distributed them to any homeless person she came across while walking around London.

"With this she became inspired to want to do more in the build up to Christmas so decided to rally around friends, family and her school (St John's Middle School) to get people to help donate what they could to her mission.

"With this she managed to collect enough food to fill two boxes full of food and a box full of Thermos cups so that people can get a hot drink and keep it warm for a longer length of time."
