BROMSGROVE residents have the opportunity to improve their fitness and meet new people in this Year.

After a slight delay due to poor weather conditions, weekly walks will now be held around the trim trail at BHI Parkside, Stourbridge Road every Tuesday.

Completely free and part of the national ‘Walks for Health Scheme’, the sessions are led by a trained walk leader.

As well as leading walks they will also teach you how to use the fitness equipment outside BHI Parkside in the correct way.

Bromsgrove District Council physical activity development officer Hayley Gwilliam said: “As well as being an ideal form of exercise, regular walking can help reduce the risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, improve blood cholesterol levels and help control diabetes.

"It is perfect for people who are just starting out on their fitness journey or need more gentle exercises due to health conditions or low mobility. You can meet like-minded people and have lots of fun at the same time.”

The walks take place every Tuesday at 11am outside BHI Parkside Centre and will continue for the next ten weeks.
