A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl from Bromsgrove has donated 12 inches of her hair to be made into wigs for children battling cancer.

Lucy Wainwright, who is in year one at the Chaddesley Corbett school, also raised £1,100 in sponsors for The Little Princess.

Her mum Kelly said Lucy came up with the idea of donating her hair as her Christmas present.

After braving the clippers, Lucy's hair has been made into two wigs for young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Denise Toms, headmistress at Winterfold, said: “We’re really proud of Lucy and the way she has been thinking of others.

"Not only has her hair helped to make wigs, the money she has raised will help to fund research projects into many types of cancer. Our children are actively encouraged to help each and the community."

Lucy is still accepting donations towards The Little Princess Trust at justgiving.com/fundraising/kelly-wainwright1.
