BOSSES of a family pub have revealed they have been forced to close suddenly.

The Woodmans Arms, in Rayleigh Road, Benfleet, made the announcement on its Facebook page, which stated: "We regret to inform you we are closed for the next few weeks.

"We hope to be back up and running very soon with lots of exciting new stuff. Please keep watching for any updates.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal and very valued customers we have gained over the last two years and hope the current situation will not deter you from visiting us in the future.

"We have worked hard to make some amazing memories that cater for everyone. The epic kids days we do will certainly continue, band nights, Bbq's, discos and many more.

"So keep em peeled peeps! We will be back. Much love team woodmans."

The pub hopes to back open by Mother's Day on March 22.

Members of Shortround, a band, who were due to perform at the pub on Saturday, were disappointed at the closure, and also issued a statement on social media: "Unfortunately our gig this weekend at the Woodmans Arms, Benfleet has been cancelled.

"We have been advised by the pub they have cancelled the gig and are closing for the next few weeks.

"We are disappointed as a band, for the bar staff and all those looking forward to the gig.

"See you at the next one."

The Echo contacted the pub several times for further comment but has received no response.
