THE number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Worcestershire has reached 146.

The figures, released daily by Public Health England, recorded 20 new Covid-19 cases in the county as of 9am on Monday, March 30.

As the Government is no longer testing people who are self-isolating with mild symptoms, many cases may not be detected.

Birmingham has the most confirmed cases of all upper tier local authorities in the UK, with a total of 578 cases.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK stood at 22,141 yesterday morning, according to official data. Of those confirmed cases, 1,408 had died.

The Government website says that 135 patients had recovered from coronavirus as of March 22.

The current figure is likely to be much higher and a new process for collecting numbers of recovered patients is in development.
