CHILDREN from Finstall First School in Bromsgrove have sung their own rendition of a pop hit during the lockdown.

A music video has been released of pupils singing a personalised version of George Ezra's song Shotgun to teachers and friends whilst in isolation.

The lyrics of the hit have been changed to reflect how the children, all aged five and six, are missing school as the coronavirus crisis continues.

School mum Jayne Tingle shared the idea which she says came from a friend of hers at a Sutton Coldfield school.

It was in response to a music lesson challenge which required them to make their own music video.

School dad Tom Paxton rewrote the lyrics to Shotgun for the rendition and also edited the video together.

Jayne said: "We were all sharing ideas to keep everyone entertained. About half of the school year responded and were keen to get involved.

"It was a way for kids to send a message to each other. We had a message back from teachers via email saying how touched they were."

Following the closure of the school due to Government guidelines, a colourful mural has been made on walls outside the school.

Drawings of flowers and a message reading "We miss you" can be seen.
