AN award-winning Rubery chef has launched a 'foodies raffle' with some 'tasty' prizes to help raise funds for two charities.

Meals cooked by some of the Midlands' top chefs are among the prizes on offer in Tom Jackson's 'United Through Food' project which will benefit Hospitality Action and NHS Charities Together

Anyone who donates £10 a ticket will be entered into a draw and could win a three-course meal cooked in the winner’s home by Stu Deeley, the 2019 champion of the Masterchef: The Professionals TV show.

Tom, an Acorn Award winner and area manager at Leicestershire catering company Wilson Vale, said: “I have been fortunate throughout my career to have learnt from and been trained by some incredible chefs.

"The amazing prizes that have been donated have come from some of my chef friends, previous and current colleagues, suppliers and other great people who want to support this project.

“The hospitality industry, like most, is experiencing the biggest uphill challenge we have ever faced. Food is a powerful thing and is something that can bring everyone together.

"Every donation to United Through Food will help to support NHS Charities Together and the industry charity, Hospitality Action, which offers vital assistance to all who work, or have worked, within the UK hospitality sector.”

The initiative aims to raise £5,000 for each charity. It opened on May 1 and closes on Friday, May 29.

The draw will take place at 3pm on Sunday, May 31 on Tom’s Instagram live feed at www.instagram.com/tomj318/

Many other leading figures in the hospitality sector are supporting the initiative.

Nick Bennett, Masterchef: The Professionals’ finalist and now head chef at Old Downton Lodge in Ludlow, is donating an overnight stay with breakfast at the historic lodge.

Michelin starred chef Tom Shepherd is providing a three-course dinner or lunch for six people in their own home, while Tom himself is providing a six-hour cooking workshop, again at the winner’s own home.
