PUPILS at Longtown Primary School have thanked their teachers in a sweet video for all of their hard work and support throughout the pandemic.

“You’re simply the best,” was the message that pupils and their parents at Longtown Primary School wanted to send to the staff at the school as it prepared to open further this week.

Most of the school got involved in this heartwarming activity.

Kerry Atlinski, who put together the video, said: “A lot of us just wanted to do a final thank you for all of the support networks they have put on over the last three months of home learning.

“We’re all aware of how much work it was and when you start speaking to other parents, I think the support Longtown Primary gave its children was second to none.”

The video, which was posted on social media, shows children dancing and miming to Simply the Best by Tina Turner.

It was chosen by the group of parents for obvious reasons.

“We had a group chat that we had used for all of the other videos previously that we put a poll on there and took some suggestions,” said Kerry.

“We kind of all say that they are the best team, it does represent them and we think that much of them because of the work that they did.”

The kind words from the children had been well received by teachers at the school who were blown away by the kindness of the parents and pupils.

Lauren Hitchen, deputy headteacher, said: “We were overwhelmed by the video we received from the children. Our community continues to be the heart and soul of our school.

“Although we have lots of children who have returned to school, we are eagerly awaiting September when we can all be together again as one. Our children and families have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic and we are extremely impressed with their efforts of home learning. The children continue to be the best they can be.”
