A COUPLE were attacked and had a phone stolen by a gang of hoodlums in a frightening robbery in Catshill.

Police have this week released details of the incident, which happened several weeks ago, in a bid to track down witnesses.

The victim and his partner were walking on Milton Road, near Catshill Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 9 at around 9.15pm when they were set upon by the gang.

Police have not specified how many people were in the group but said some were on bicycles and prevented the couple from driving away.

The victim's phone was stolen in the ensuing attack before all of the suspects fled the scene.

West Mercia Police said they have already heard from several witnesses to the robbery but are now seeking video footage, perhaps from a phone or vehicle dash cam.

A force spokesperson said: "A number of witnesses have already contacted the police.

"However, we would ask again that anyone who witnessed the incident and who may have any video footage from a dash cam or mobile phone from the area on that date, please get in touch by calling 101 and quoting 698s of 9 June 2020."
